We have always led an active lifestyle. Eating healthy, exercising regularly, and encouraging our children to follow in our footsteps have always been our top priorities. In fact, being competitive in cycling and multi-day fitness events, were, and remain to be, a large part of our daily lives.
We’ve been competitors since day one and throughout our participation in grueling sporting events along with a plethora of other vigorous activities many times over, our bodies were at their peak performance; however, we still felt that something was missing.
After many years of annual blood panels, the results didn’t lie. Type-2 diabetes was a major threat to our family, weight gain was becoming inevitable, and mental clarity was hard to keep a tight grasp on. What we didn’t realize was how the “clean diet” we religiously followed, was actually the pinnacle of our health woes as we were regimented on the common “low-fat, high-carb” diet. Not to mention that nutrition for sporting and training events are typically loaded with sugar and carbs thus compounding the problem even further.
This is when we started our personal health journey and studied the work of several nutrition experts such as Steve Phinney, Jeff Volek and Eric Westman. However, we didn’t dive into this lifestyle headfirst. Instead, we decided to tread lightly and track our progress to see if this dietary change would positively impact us.
Throughout our seemingly endless endeavors of learning and practicing a healthy lifestyle, we found ourselves gravitating towards the work of Dr. Eric Westman, best-selling author of “The New Atkins for a New You,” and a legend in the health and wellness field. Thanks to Dr. Westman’s work, we started following a ketogenic diet—or a “low-carb diet.” We learned that following a low-carb lifestyle turned our bodies into fat burning machines as it taps into the body’s fat storage as opposed to burning glucose for fuel. This was a major game-changer for both of us.
We even went so far as sending out an email to Dr. Westman figuring a response would be a long shot. Instead, our expectations were succeeded by a timely reply and an invitation to meet. We were completely in awe of the care and dedication he had to his practice, and we knew his nutritional perspective perfectly matched ours.
After having many discussions about our health ideals and lifestyle necessities, we realized that partnering with him would not only create the platform for a great business plan, but would also build the foundation for a flourishing friendship. Thus, Adapt Your Life was born.
After a few short months following a low-carb lifestyle, the results became exceedingly clear. We reached exciting new levels of improved performance, stamina, increased mental clarity, and leaner body mass. We soon realized this lifestyle not only gave us a major edge over our competitors, but also made us stronger and more energetic than ever before.
Curious to see any documented changes, we anxiously re-visited our annual blood panels. To our surprise, prediabetes was no longer a threat to us! From that moment on, we knew the low-carb lifestyle was the change our bodies needed to not only survive—but to thrive.
After forming our partnership with Dr. Westman, we immediately got the ball rolling.
We knew that we wanted to aid Dr. Westman in reaching more people by educating them on the science behind this lifestyle, and we also knew that we needed to create tasty nutritional products with ideal macros to help people adhere to the program.
All of our products undergo stringent testing and we are proud to bring these products to you with the perfect balance of delicious and nutritious in every bite.
